Lawsuit Filed on behalf of Injured Jones Act Seaman

by | Feb 27, 2021 | Civil litigation

Spagnoletti Law Firm recently filed suit on behalf of a Jones Act seaman who was injured while working for Chet Morrison Contractors.  The worker was injured when he slipped on the deck of the vessel.  Now, he requires substantial medical treatment through no fault of his own.  It is unclear if he will ever return to work offshore.  The lawsuit brings claims against Chet Morrison Contractors, LLC arising out of the incident.  The lawsuit alleges that the company was negligent in:

(a) failing to provide proper and adequate equipment to perform the job;
(b) failing to maintain the vessel and her appurtenances and/or equipment in a safe and reasonable state of repair;
(c) failing to take reasonable precautions for Plaintiff’s safety;
(d) failing to perform adequate safety meetings and analyses to identify and minimize the risk to Plaintiff and others;
(e) failing to assess the conditions on board the vessel;
(f) failing to provide Plaintiff with a reasonably safe place to work, including failing to provide proper equipment and sufficient crew.

The injured Plaintiff is represented by Marcus R. Spagnoletti and Eric J. Rhine.

It goes without saying that maritime companies must maintain safe vessels.  Safe maritime and offshore companies must exercise precaution to ensure that slip, trip and fall risks are minimized on their ships.
