The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating a single-vessel incident that occurred on January 29, 2021 in Avoyelles Parish, LA. Reports indicate a 16 ft aluminum vessel began taking on water before capsizing on Lac Tete de Boeuf. There were two people on the vessel at the time. One passenger was able to swim to shore, but the second tragically lost his life. The victim has been identified as 38 year old Vidal J. Martinez Jr., of Marksville, Louisiana. A worker on board a barge owned by Zito Fleeting fell overboard on January 26, 2021, when the vessel was in the Lower Mississippi River near Jefferson Heights in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. The bulk carrier GIULIA I was struck by rough weather on January 26, 2021, resulting in one fatality and multiple injured crew men.
