FAA Orders Inspections on Bell 212, 204, and 205 Model Helicopters

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a directive ordering rotor inspections on Bell 212, 204 and 205 helicopters.  The emergency directive requires operators to replace hub strap pins on the rotors.  Transport Canada Civil Aviation has ordered the same work to occur.  There are approximately 140 helicopters in the United States impacted by the order.  The directives follow the investigation into a June 28 helicopter crash in Canada involving a Bell 212.

There have been a number of recent helicopter crashes.  There was a helicopter crash in Rome, New York on June 29, 2021.  There was a helicopter crash in Union County, North Carolina on June 27, 2021.  Zachary Warren Pourciau of Louisiana was killed in a helicopter crash in Talladega County, Alabama on June 25, 2021.  There was a helicopter crash in Montana on June 15, 2021.  Five workers were injured in a helicopter crash at a drilling rig operated by Diamond Offshore on June 2, 2021.   A Bell 429 helicopter crashed in Eden, North Carolina on April 28, 2021.
