Robinson R-22 Helicopter Crashes After Mid-air Collision in Chandler, Arizona

There was a helicopter crash in Chandler, Arizona on October 1, 2021.  The Robinson R-22 helicopter crashed near the Chandler Municipal Airport following a mid-air collision with a fixed-wing aircraft.  Reports indicated the Piper PA-28’s landing gear struck the clipped the rotor of the helicopter as it approached a runway at the airport.  The Piper was able to land safely, but the helicopter crashed and exploded on impact with the ground.  There were two people on board the helicopter at the time of the accident, both losing their lives in this tragic accident.  The helicopter was owned and operated a flight school, Quantum Helicopters.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this tragic crash.
