Recreational Boat Capsizes in Galveston Bay, Texas

A small recreational boat capsized in Galveston Bay, Texas on October 15, 2022.  At the time, the 19-foot boat was east of Eagle Point.  There were four people on board the boat at the time.  All four had on personal flotation devices.  The Coast Guard sent a vessel which was able to rescue the four boaters who were on the hull of their overturned boat.  The cause of the vessel’s capsizing is unknown at this time.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  There was a fire on the offshore supply tug AEGEAN STAR on October 6, 2022.  There was a fire on the container ship TSS PEARL on October 6, 2022.  A recreational boat struck a jetty in the Empire Canal in Louisiana on October 8, 2022.  There was a mass poisoning on the tanker ship SEALION 1 on October 9, 2022.  A boat struck a channel marker on the St. Lucie River in Martin County, Florida on October 9, 2022.  A crew member on the fishing vessel CAPT. MICHAEL II sustained a head injury on October 14, 2022.
