Passenger Killed on VIKING POLARIS Cruise Ship

There was a deadly incident on the VIKING POLARIS cruise ship on November 29, 2022.  At the time, the vessel encountered bad weather as it sailed to Ushuaia, Argentina.  A wave struck the ship, which broke windows on board.  The victim was struck by the shattered glass and killed.  Four other passengers were injured.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this deadly incident.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  There was a fire on the chemical tanker vessel ATLANTIC LILY on November 18, 2022.  On November 18, 2022, Seacor Marine evacuated the Lift Boat Robert.  A crew member’s hand was amputated on the LADY OF LUCK on November 26, 2022.  There was a fire on board the fishing trawler SUNFISH on November 27, 2022.  The shrimp boat CAPTAIN ALEX sunk on November 25, 2022.  The jack-up rig LIFTBOAT DANIELA sunk on November 30, 2022.

It can be dangerous to work in any industry when safety considerations are not taken seriously.  This is especially so when working on a large ship. Safe cruise lines must ensure that their ships do not put the lives of their passengers or workers at risk.  Safe companies must be proactive and take preventative measures, and plan for poor weather conditions.
