There was a deadly crash involving an 18-wheeler in Corrigan, Texas on January 20, 2023. The accident happened on southbound U.S. Highway 59. An 18-wheeler made a left hand turn from the northbound lanes, across the southbound lanes of traffic. A Nissan Versa that was traveling southbound was unable to stop, and collided with the trailer. The car became trapped underneath. The car contained two students from Stephen F. Austin University. The driver, Micah McAfoose was pronounced dead at the scene.
