Captain Medivaced from Bulk Carrier PERIDOT

There was an incident on board the bulk carrier PERIDOT on February 6, 2023.  At the time, the ship was at anchorage in Southwest Pass Anchorage, Louisiana.  According to reports, the captain began experiencing chest pain and dizziness.  The Coast Guard medevaced the injured captain to shore for medical care.  Additional details have not yet been released.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  There was a deadly boating accident near Port O’Connor, Texas on January 28, 2023.  There was a fire on board the container ship CAPE CORTIA on January 30, 2023.  There was a deadly incident on board the general cargo ship IBRAHIM SIMSEK on February 1, 2023.  There was an explosion on board the bulk carrier ORIENTAL GLORY on February 2, 2023.  There was a fire on board the car carrier AH SHIN on February 3, 2023.  Six crew members were killed while cleaning a tank on the the tanker ship HALIMA on February 4, 2023.
