Amputation Accident on Container Ship ZIM NORFOLK

There was an incident on the container ship ZIM NORFOLK on March 27, 2023.  At the time, the boat was leaving Buenos Aires, Argentina.  During the incident, a crew member on board lost his left leg.  The Filipino seaman was transported to shore via helicopter.  The vessel is operated by Zim Integrated Shipping Services and its registered owned is Laertis Marine.  Additional details have not yet been released.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  The research vessel PETREL capsized in dry dock on March 22, 2023.  The bulk carrier DYNAMIC STRIKER struck a concrete pier in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic on March 25, 2023.  On March 26, 2023, the product tanker MONJASA REFORMER was boarded by pirates.  A recreational boat capsized in Hoover Reservoir in Ohio on March 25, 2023.  There was a deadly incident during a lifeboat drill on the bulk carrier KANG HUAN on March 28, 2023.
