Natural Gas Pipeline Explosion in Alabama

by | Apr 14, 2022 | Industrial Accident

There was an explosion on a gas pipeline in Marengo County, Alabama on April 12, 2022.  According to reports, the pipeline ruptured and released natural gas at a Williams Companies natural gas compressor facility.  Nearby highways were closed as a result of the incident.  The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

There have been a number of incidents at industrial and chemical plants.  There was an explosion at the U.S. Magnesium plant in Grantsville, Utah on March 5, 2022.  There was a fire at the Nutrien Ag Solutions fertilizer plant in Sunnyside, Washington on February 28, 2022.  There was an explosion at the Shearer’s Foods processing plant in Hermiston, Oregon on February 22, 2022.  There was a large explosion at the Marathon Petroleum Corporation refinery in Garyville, Louisiana on February 21, 2022.

Pipelines can pose significant dangers both to workers and to the general public.  When dangerous work is involved, extra precautions must be taken, especially when catastrophic fires or explosions can occur.
