There was a deadly boating crash near Freeport, Texas on August 6, 2022. During the incident, two boats collided in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. According to reports, at the time of the collision, three passengers on one of the boats and two on the other one were thrown in the water. The U.S. Coast Guard launched a helicopter to assist with search and rescue efforts. Unfortunately, two boaters died in the accident. The remaining passengers sustained various injuries.
