There was a small plane crash in Newport News, Virginia on October 6, 2022. According to reports, a single-engine Cessna 172 crashed at the Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport while taking off from the airport. The plane reached an altitude of 100 feet before crashing in some woods near the airport. A student pilot who was controlling the plane was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The flight instructor on board was killed in the crash. A second passenger was also taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
